Job Description

About Us

Coleman Johns is a modern real estate, marketing, and media brand based in Nashville, founded in 2022. We operate The Coleman Johns Group, a top-producing real estate team specializing in luxury properties, and Coleman Johns Studio, our in-house creative team producing cinematic, story-driven content.

Our YouTube channels reach hundreds of thousands of viewers and directly drive millions in closed real estate volume. We're building out a full creative team and need an editor who can keep up with the volume and range of content we produce.

The Role

You'll be the person who lives in the timeline.

We're producing across multiple formats — cinematic luxury property tours, fast-paced founder vlogs, long-form YouTube deep dives, and high-energy short-form content for Instagram, TikTok, and Shorts. Every format has a different rhythm, pacing, and purpose. You need to be fluent in all of them.

You'll work directly under our Creative Director and alongside our production team. The footage comes to you shot and directed — your job is to turn it into something people watch, share, and remember. You'll receive creative direction and editorial notes, but you should have enough instinct to make strong first cuts that don't need hand-holding.

This is a high-volume role. We're not publishing once a week — we're building a content engine. If you love being in the edit, thrive under deadlines, and get a rush from seeing your work perform, this is the seat.

What You'll Do

  • Edit cinematic property tour videos for YouTube — pacing, music selection, color grading, and storytelling that matches the luxury brand
  • Cut fast-paced, personality-driven vlog content that keeps viewers engaged from hook to end
  • Produce short-form content (Reels, TikToks, Shorts) with native understanding of what performs on each platform — not just cropping a long-form video, but rethinking it for the format
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously with quick turnaround times
  • Take editorial direction from the Creative Director and deliver strong first cuts that need minimal revision
  • Build and maintain organized project files, asset libraries, and folder structures
  • Incorporate feedback quickly and without ego
  • Stay current on editing trends, transitions, pacing styles, and platform-specific best practices

You Should Have

  • A portfolio showing range — cinematic work, vlog-style edits, and short-form content, not just one style
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro (After Effects and DaVinci Resolve a plus)
  • Strong understanding of pacing, music selection, and sound design
  • Color grading skills that can match a luxury aesthetic
  • Experience editing for YouTube specifically — you understand retention, packaging, and how the first 30 seconds make or break a video
  • Ability to manage high volume without sacrificing quality
  • Self-motivated and organized — you don't need someone checking in on every deadline
  • Comfort receiving creative direction and iterating based on notes

Nice to Have

  • Motion graphics or animation skills
  • Thumbnail design capability
  • Experience with real estate, luxury, or lifestyle content
  • Understanding of YouTube analytics and how editing choices impact performance

What We Offer

  • A seat on a growing creative team with a dedicated Creative Director and production crew
  • High-end content across luxury real estate, lifestyle, and brand storytelling — not boring corporate edits
  • Volume and variety that will push your skills and build your reel fast
  • Creative input welcomed — you're not just pressing buttons, your instincts matter
  • Paid time off and a flexible, high-growth culture

Compensation: $50,000 - $60,000 annually depending on experience.
