Job Description

Physician Assistant – Hand & Upper Extremity - Clinic and Operating Room

The Essentials:

Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours per week) | Monday – Friday | Operating Room and Office

Locations: Fairlawn, Hudson, Green and Canton

Specialties: Hand and Upper Extremity

What You'll Do:

  • Promotes and maintains patient’s health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician; assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performs physical examinations; obtains medical histories.

  • Functions as first assistant in the operation room including surgical exposure, suturing and closure; prepares patients for surgery, including positioning, skin preparation and administration of local anesthetic; performs pre- and post- operative patient education to patients and their families.

  • Prescribes needed medicines to patients; writes appropriate orders, including those for narcotics, stimulants, and depressant drugs; executes appropriate protocols including prescribing, as necessary, within the scope of license; provides follow-up and health adjustment of medications in accordance with established protocols or in response to maintenance care including the appropriate specific instructions from the attending Physician. Conducts minor procedures, including suturing, splinting and casting; consults with physician and/or specialist, as appropriate; monitors patients’ progress and keeps records of treatments, surgeries or other medical events.

  • Communicates with referring or primary care physicians regarding patient care and treatment; works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, physicians, case managers and other advance practitioners.
  • Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational and experiential growth opportunities; may train and supervise medical residents engaged in specific clinical activities. (MGMAIII).

What We're Looking For:

  • Education: Physician Assistant Degree required.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of demonstrated experience in field or profession preferred.
  • License/Certification: Certified by NCCPA. Licensed to practice as a Physician’s Assistant in the State of Ohio. BLS required.
