Job Description

Rose Brooks Center, a nonprofit domestic violence agency, seeks a Housing Navigator whose primary role is to provide step-by-step support to survivors of domestic violence who present to the region's Coordinated Entry System (CES) for homelessness diversion and housing assistance. This position is responsible for conducting outreach to, and Coordinated Entry assessments with, survivors at Rose Brooks Center, other victim service agencies, and other Coordinated Entry access points.

The Housing Navigator assists survivors referred through or diverted from the Coordinated Entry System through all stages of the housing process, including housing search, application, inspection, and placement. This position is also responsible for identifying, developing, and maintaining relationships with local property managers and owners to help mitigate barriers to housing and expedite housing placement. The Housing Navigator reports to the Director of Housing and Economic Advocacy.

  • Perform all job responsibilities in accordance with agency policies and procedures while demonstrating proficiency in all RBC competencies and utilizing the principles of trauma-informed care and accessibility. Demonstrates a commitment to the overall mission of Rose Brooks Center. 
  • Maintain awareness about the risks of secondary trauma and understand one’s own responsibility of self-care. 
  • Attend scheduled staff, team, and supervision meetings. 
  • Participate in all required trainings. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
  • Two years of case management experience, preferably in a domestic violence agency and /or commensurate experience.  
  • Knowledge of domestic violence and familiarity with strengths-based perspective.
  • Demonstrated skills in time management, organization and prioritization. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with others, both internally and externally. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with community partners. 
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, database systems and other software. 
  • Ability to maintain accurate, timely documentation of services. 
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of liability insurance.
 
Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field or commensurate work experience.
  • Two years of advocacy experience.
  • Experience in crisis response and working with survivors of domestic/sexual violence trauma.
  • Knowledge of Department of Housing and Urban Development guidelines.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English.
 
HOURS:
This is a full-time, exempt position (average of 40 hours per week). Some evening hours may be required to accommodate participants’ schedules, and occasional weekend hours may be necessary. This position requires the ability to share a workspace/office environment with others. 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: This position falls into a salary range starting at $48,000 annually (exempt) and offers a comprehensive benefits package.
