Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Art Director for a top beauty company in NYC! Reporting to the VP Creative, the Senior Social Art Director will lead cross-functional collaboration across the creative team to concept, execute and deliver high-impact creative for our social media platforms and paid media.
- Location: 4 days onsite, 1 day remote
- Pay Rate: $52/hour
- Employment Type: Temp to Perm
Responsibilities
- Partner with VP Creative, VP Marketing, Social Media Manager and Public Relations Manager on concepting and art direction for all social media channels and paid social owns output
- Lead concept ideation and visualization for social campaigns across platforms, aligned to NPL and evergreen creative cadences
- Drive visual research and trend interpretation across photography, video and social to maintain and grow platform engagement
- Collaborate with the production team to build shoot schedules, run-of-show documents and casting summaries
- Manage and mentor graphic designers, content creators, video editors and retouchers
On set
- Support the Creative Director and campaign Art Directors on secondary sets; oversee campaign and evergreen social and digital needs
- Manage social capture sets for on-figure, still-life and video
Post production
- Supervise designers in maintaining tight image and typography reproduction standards
- Oversee retouching and video post-production in partnership with the team to uphold high standards across all platforms
Key competencies
- Relevant art direction experience in beauty and/or fashion, including graphic design, concepting and on-set team management
- Social native with deep fluency in emerging trends across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube; able to reinterpret for the brand environment
- Strong familiarity with beauty and lifestyle talent and the broader social community
- Knowledge of beauty and fashion photography and cinema is a strong asset
- Strong graphic design foundation with technical typography skills
- Proficient in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Premiere
- Post-production oversight experience across both still
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Visual Communications or a related field — or equivalent professional experience
- 8+ years of art direction experience, with significant time in beauty, fashion or lifestyle brands
- Proven track record concepting and executing social-first creative across social media channels
- Experience managing and directing creative teams including designers, editors and retouchers
- Strong on-set experience managing social capture for both still and video
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Premiere
- Post-production oversight experience across still and video
Preferred
- Experience at a DTC, prestige beauty brand, or background in fashion preferred
